Accepting Applications for Bilingual (English/Spanish) Research Assistant

The ‘Walking in My Shoes’ Project is seeking a bilingual research assistant to be a part of their ‘This is Home’ project, which is focusing on collecting and disseminating narratives of housing and community in East New York and Cypress Hills (Brooklyn).

Specifically, we are looking for an assistant to help with the translation (of research materials, interviews, administrative documents) and to act as an interpreter at a community event on Saturday June 3rd. Over the summer, we are hoping to continue conducting interviews with residents in East New York and Cypress Hills, and we hope the research assistant will continue working on the project as an interviewer as well.



  • Fluent in Spanish and English (spoken bilingual a must, spoken and written preferred).
  • An interest in urban development/studies (an interest in housing and community development preferred).
  • Available to attend event in Cypress Hills on June 3rd
  • Preferably someone interested in working with this project over the summer.


Research assistants will be compensated for translation at a rate of $50 / 1000 words. At this time, there are no funds to compensate assistants for research-related activities not tied to translation.
